Google DeepMind appears to be democratizing AI video generation. With the release of Veo 3.1 Lite, the company has reportedly halved the cost while maintaining speeds comparable to the more expensive Veo 3.1 Fast. The extent to which quality has been reduced remains unclear, obscured by marketing statements. The new model can generate videos from text or visual prompts at 720p and 1080p resolutions, producing clips lasting 4, 6, or 8 seconds.
