Microsoft has released the MAI Cyber 1.1 Flash model for its MDASH security system, delivering an 18% reduction in cost per scan compared to its predecessor on internal evaluation suites while maintaining the same vulnerability detection performance.

According to Microsoft, the model relies on a more focused architecture that handles a larger share of the workload independently, lowering the operational expenses of running the entire MDASH pipeline.

The economic shift is reflected in customer retention metrics. After running an initial test with the MAI Cyber 1 Flash profile, nearly 90% of subsequent scans migrate to the MAI profile rather than relying on OpenAI-only configurations. To date, MAI Cyber models account for roughly half of all MDASH volume across hundreds of enterprise accounts and thousands of completed scans.

MAI Cyber 1.1 Flash is currently available inside MDASH for verified customers under standard usage policies and monitoring frameworks.
