The cost escalation stems directly from the memory supply chain. Leading DRAM manufacturers Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron Technology are capitalizing on tight supply constraints by pushing through aggressive price increases. Contract server assemblers have already begun notifying tier-one clients, including Microsoft, Google, and Oracle, that early 2025 purchase orders will carry significantly heavier invoices. This immediate margin hit lands squarely on the industry's heaviest capital spenders: hyperscale operators Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta, alongside foundational AI labs OpenAI and Anthropic. For enterprise infrastructure leads, the hardware squeeze highlights an ironic strategic bottleneck.
